What Sets Dr. Kouris Apart?
Exciting Transformation Process
Hinsdale Tummy Tuck from Dr. George Kouris MD
Everyone wishes they had a flat, well-toned tummy, don’t they? But, much as we may wish we could, not everyone can make that fully toned tummy or well chiseled six-pack a reality on diet and exercise alone. Many of us battle stubborn belly fat or sagging skin once we have lost weight loss or have given birth. Simple aging, genetics or the after effects of surgery can all drastically affect body shape, too.
Abdominoplasty, commonly called the “Tummy Tuck,” has a long history of success in correcting the problem areas surrounding the stomach and abdomen. The procedure returns a smoother, firmer abdomen to the patient by the removal of excessive skin and fatty tissue, then tightening weakened or separated musculature. The resulting abdominal profile means you won’t feel like hiding your tummy beneath shapeless clothing anymore.
The Tummy Tuck Procedure
Anesthesia is required during tummy tuck surgery. Which type of anesthesia works best for you is one of the things that Dr. Kouris and you will talk about during your consultation.
A complete tummy tuck is done with a horizontal incision from the pubic hairline to the navel. The incision that is hidden in the bikini line is what allows Dr. Kouris to repair weak or separated abdominal musculature, drastically improving the firmness and strength of the abdominal area. He will remove surplus tissues like skin and fat, producing a tauter appearance.
What To Expect During Recovery
Tummy tuck surgery is a major procedure that requires a certain amount of recovery time. Immediately after surgery, you will experience some swelling. You may also experience difficulty in standing fully upright until your abdominal muscles have healed. This will normally resolve itself within 1 to 2 weeks, however, and you will be showing off your flatter, firmer tummy contour.
What A Tummy Tuck Won’t Do
While tummy tuck surgery does wonders for tightening and firming, patients should understand that tummy tucks don’t correct stretch marks. The exception to this are those stretch marks that are below the belly button in regions of skin will be removed in the trimming procedure.
That’s not to say, though, that there aren’t other procedures that greatly reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Dr. Kouris will be glad to talk with you about these options.
When To Get A Tummy Tuck
Large swings in weight gain or weight loss can undo the otherwise lasting effects of tummy tuck surgery. If you are woman planning to become pregnant, or a man or woman with plans to lose significant weight, it is strongly recommended that you wait for your tummy tuck until after your weight loss is complete.
