What To Expect
Hinsdale Breast Surgery from Dr. George Kouris MD
Many factors can cause people to become unhappy with the shape or size of their breasts. That includes men, too, who suffer from gynecomastia (an excessive growth of breast tissue). The effects of aging, weight loss or gain, pregnancies, breast feedings, hormonal imbalances or merely genetic makeup are all factors that can affect how someone feels about breast shape or size. Dr. Kouris is expertly trained in breast augmentation and other breast surgery procedures.
Dr. Kouris can enlarge small breasts, perform large breast reductions or lift saggy breasts, do reductions of large or stretched areolas and repositioning of droopy nipples. He is also well-versed in the reconstruction of breasts after mastectomies.

A Closer Look At Three Basic Breast Surgery Procedures
Augmentation Mammoplasty, or Breast Augmentation
Augmentation mammoplasty (also known as breast augmentation) increases the size, shaping or fullness of breasts. Silicone, saline or an alternative composite breast implant is set beneath chest muscles or breast tissue. The locations of incisions can be done beneath the breast where it is connected to the chest wall, at the edge of the areolas, or through the armpit.
There are several implant types and designs. These include saline, silicone gel and what is known as “gummy bear.” In addition, implants come in different shapes, such as round or teardrop.
Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammaplasty)
Breast reduction is a common procedure for both men and women. A breast reduction is a procedure that removes excessive fat, glandular tissues and skin, achieving a breast size that is in better proportion with the rest of the body. It is also often sought out by women to alleviate discomfort linked with overly large breasts.
In the case of men, male breast reduction is the best known treatment for gynecomastia, the enlarging of breasts in men. This procedure removes excessive fat and glandular tissues to restore flatter, firmer and more masculine contouring to the chest.
Women who have had to have all or part of a breast removed frequently elect to have breast reconstruction. This surgical procedure involves the rebuilding of a breast mound to match the size and shape of the other breast. It is also possible to restore the nipple and areola during breast reconstruction.
