FAQ About Facial Procedures For Wrinkles, Lines And More

Facial fillers, frequently known as dermal fillers or soft tissue fillers, are heralded as a “liquid facelift” because of the restorative effect they have on the face with no need for surgical procedures or recovery time. Facial fillers temporarily plump the lips. These facial procedures for wrinkles have an enhancing effect on the curve and contour of facial area, and reduce facial creasing and wrinkling.
Yes. Some have hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar within the body that diminishes with aging, thus revealing wrinkles and folds. Restylane®, Perlane®, Juvederm®, Hylaform® and Hylaform Plus® are fillers containing this natural sugar. These facial treatments work by correcting lip lines, deep lines around or below mouth corners, as well as smile lines (those that mimic parentheses around the mouth).
Other types of fillers have collagen, the natural elastic-like substance that provides skin volume, suppleness and strength. We lose collagen through aging, which results in wrinkling, lines and loosened skin. When collagen is replaced, there is an improvement in look of smile lines, “marionette” lines, wrinkling around mouth corners, and chin sagging (often known as “pre-jowl”). Fillers such as Radiesse® restore collagen to the body, while fillers like Sculptra® make use of safe, reliable synthetics that imitate collagen. Both Radiesse® and Sculptra®, along with some other types of fillers as facial procedures for wrinkles, arouse natural production of fresh collagen within the face.
Not necessarily. A neck lift or mini-facelift may be a better alternative to a complete facelift for those looking to improve just the mid-face or neck. A good candidate regarding a mini facelift will have small or moderate amounts of lax skin that needs tightening around the mid-to-lower face. In addition, a neck lift offers an alternate option for those who prefer to focus just on the neck.
Facial fillers are good companion treatments to a neck lift or mini-facelift by restoring a younger looking fullness to facial features. This is done through the enhancement of facial curves and contouring, restoring plumpness to lips, and softening facial creasing and wrinkling.
A number of very effective facial procedures for wrinkles exist precisely for issues like neck sag, wattles or fat, including:
Neck liposuction
Surgical neck lifts
Platysmaplasty (a procedure that tightens loose muscles in the neck that causes wattles)
Facial resurfacing that improves skin coloring and texture
Collagen treatment that improves facial volume and silkiness.
A number of these facial treatments can be used in combination with other techniques, like a chemical peel, face lift or a dermal filler, restoring youthful contouring.
Yes. Brow lifts work by revitalizing the forehead and the region between eyes. A brow lift smoothes forehead creasing and frown lines, and corrects low or saggy brows which might protrude over the eyelid. When the eye brows are raised, you appear much less weary or irritated.
Eye lid surgery focuses on the upper and lower lids, as well as nearby areas around the lids. This procedure will improve loosened skin, fat, baggy skin below the eye and drooping lids. This surgery, known as blepharoplasty, is commonly used for:
Loosened, sagging skin that is obscuring natural contours of the upper lid, often causing impairment of vision.
Fat that makes the upper lids puffy
Baggy under-eyes
Drooping lower lids that expose the whites beneath irises
Excessive skin and hairline wrinkling of lower lids
The most popular wrinkle reducers are Botox® and Dysport®. They are noninvasive methods used to smooth frown lines and crow’s feet around the eyes, as well as furrowing on forehead, resulting in a re-energized appearance.
Chemical peel treatments are used to address facial damage arising from one or more of the following situations:
Acne and acne scarring
Age and liver spots
Fine lines or wrinkling
Freckling
Uneven skin pigmentation
Rough or scaly skin
Scarring
Overexposure to the sun
Dr. Kouris has a number of chemical peels of varying strengths specifically developed for a range of patient requirements.
