Mini Facelift At Midwest Plastic Surgery
A mini facelift is also referred to as the “weekend facelift.” A mini facelift focuses on the improvement of the mid or lower facial areas as well as the upper regions of the neck. There is less surgery, and mini facelift recovery after surgery is less than with traditional facelifts. Mini facelifts are ideal for people who have small or moderate amounts of loose skin, and are looking for firming and tightening in mid or lower regions of the face or upper neck.
The main differences between a mini facelift and a full facelift are the extent and detail of the procedures and recovery time. Like the mini facelift, a full facelift undertakes the removal of excess skin and the tightening of underlying tissue. But it also addresses work needed on the deeper tissues by tightening them with sutures, removing excess skin, then re-draping the skin for a smoother more vibrant appearance. Both suturing and stapling are used to close incisions. A full facelift is normally done with the patient under general anesthesia.
Mini facelifts are done with incisions in the temple area, around ears and sometimes within lower eyelids or beneath the upper lip, depending on the needs of each patient. Surgery is done through three or more small cuts. Excess fat is removed, and muscular tissue is re-sculpted, thus reducing minor sagging around the cheeks, jaw line and neck.
A mini facelift focuses on precise target areas, and doesn’t affect forehead or eyes. Done with a local anesthetic and mild sedation, the mini facelift is an outpatient procedure that is done in forty to ninety minutes. The mini facelift recovery time generally has patients returning to work and other normal public activities within a few days after the procedure and having the sutures removed. The mini facelift will last between five and ten years.
